Gantt Chart - Project Schedule
Google Sheets (including formulas)
Maintaining the scope and timeline of a project are crucial when acting as a Project Manager, a skill that transfers across most industries. The challenge was to consider the time requirements of a website rebuild, then plan out the roadmap for the team to follow. It was necessary to study the format of Gantt Charts and how they can be beneficial to a team's goal, then code the spreadsheet formulas used to show progress in percentage form. It was also a challenge to consider each part of a website build, from brainstorming ideas to analyzing results, that the team would encounter.
A template could have saved time here, but instead I chose to build this spreadsheet from scratch to fully understand how it should work. This assignment pushed abilities to step back from an ongoing project to observe any creep or issues while creating progress reports.

UX Strategy Report
InDesign, Google Docs
Being competent in the tech world means knowing how to work in many capacities. This challenge was to create a strategy for developing a mobile application and moving to market. In a 7-page report designed to pitch a geocaching application, I created low- and high-fidelity designs to explain how the application would work and how users could use it.
After that came the Five Planes of Usability report, including monetization. I discovered how to plan a business around an application and present the data in a professional format. This was actually an application I had built to learn programming skills a few years ago, so it was fun to build this report, re-considering how I would have furthered this project.

Product Recommendation

Product: Jackery Explorer 1000 (Electric Battery/Generator)
Every technical writer needs the ability to build a persuasive and informational document. This 3-page product pitch is targeted towards contractors with the need of electric power off the grid. The challenge was to take a product and client, then create the pitch, taking into consideration the client's needs and the product's capabilities.
The first task was to research the technical specifications of this equipment (and several competitor options), collect any images for use in the document, and find references to back up the claims made. The challenge was to speak knowledgeably about a product and its capabilities so that a client can see that this is not just a sales pitch. This professional document is a detailed review of a product that will fit a need, tailored for the specific client in the construction industry.
